Onlookers who braved heavy rains yesterday gawked in surprise and awe at the wreckage of a truck that fell off the Juan Bosch bridge over the Ozama River. No one was hurt. The truck was moving east-west when the driver, Joel Basilio Ramos, lost control of the vehicle and veered off the bridge. There is speculation Basilio could have been drunk and talking on his cell phone.
Basilio recounts that a guagua, a small public bus, cut him off. He said he braked but they didn't respond immediately and the truck slammed into the protective barrier. Basilio was taken to the Dario Contreras Hospital for a check up.
