The more I read about Sosua, the more it starts to remind me of stories I've heard out of Pattaya. Can anyone who has been to both places offer comparisons on ladies, nightlife and ease of living?

Which do you like more?

according to what i have been told it seems so...

It does have similarities, but the monger area of Sosua could get lost inside of Pattaya.

If you've been to Pattaya.

Take a any of the big sois... 12 -7 - 8 etc.

Walk down 1/2 that soi - that is Sousa. So you really can't compare the two - its silly as we say here.

Sosua is like college baseball and Pattaya is the major leagues.

All of the mongering locations on the north coast of the DR would be a tiny little spec in Pattaya, not even half a soi.

Going to Sosua tomorrow for the 5th time. Going to Pattaya in December for the 19th time. On a much smaller scale, yes, Sosua is the Pattaya of the Carribbean IMHO. Like em both but there are bar fines to pay in Patts and with a few exceptions, all the women in Sosua are freelancers. The Thais love being in the shower. And they love to soap you up too. Many times I have assumed the position and let the girl clean me up all over. With the chicas, a shower for them is a 30 second cootchie bath.
More Thai's speak good english than do Dominicans, but on the flip side, basic spanish is much easier for me to learn than Thai. I don't even attempt it. Rooms are a whole lot cheaper in Patts and better construction of hotels. Food and beer are also a whole lot cheaper. At some bars that are 24 hours, the happy hour prices can be as little as 70 cents for a rum-coke, and thats the price for 16 of those hours!!
Transportation is pretty easy in both places, but taxis are cheaper in Thailand for a ride to and from the airport overall. Infrastructure is better in Thailand, but it also is 30 years ahead of where Sosua is now.
The beaches are definately cleaner and water is clearer in Sosua. Patts is way too polluted. Both places are great to visit and I would like to spend time in each when I retire. The beauty of the women are equal to me, but Dominicans have more developed tits and ass. Thais are thinner.
The flight is much less in cost and time for the DR of course. I would certainly recommend a trip to Thailand if you've never been. In Sosua, there are perhaps 2 dozen bars or clubs to venture out each evening for a good time along with a few hundred chicas more or less to choose from. With Pattaya, there are estimated to be 3000 bars and clubs with probably 25,000 - 30,000 girls every night. Its hard to beleive if you've never been there but its true.
To all the ISOC guys out there, I say at least once in your life take the jumbo over the Polar Ice Cap to Mecca and see for yourself. The DR ain't going anywhere. It truly is monger heaven. But Sosua ain't bad!:iconTU:

By definition, they are both places with mongering establishments and hookers, the main difference, as mentioned earlier, is the scale: in one you have a few hundred hookers and in the other a few tens of thousands of hookers, in one you have a handful of mongering establishments that you can count with the fingers in your hands and in the other you have many thousands of mongering establishments.

In terms of scale, they are light years apart.

There is no comparison with Sosua & Pattaya

Sosua is nice for a quick weekend getaway

Pattaya is nice for 10 + Days or more

It's the Graceland of Mongering, If your not into Asian Woman, then it's probably a waste of your time.

If you walk down one Street, How about Soi 7 or Soi 8, there will be more Working Girls available, then you can possibly imagine!! Thousands!!

You need at least 10 Days minimum to visit L.O.S. (Land Of Smiles)

Thats why I take 3 weeks every December to go to Pattaya. I'm with the post office, busiest time of the year. Fuck the kiddies and their xmas cards and packages. Greedy little bastards. I'd rather be banging a 40 kilo Thai LBFM wearing nothing but a Santa hat. Merry Christmas to me!

All points given are great points, and thanks all for the comparison, but the title of the thread is, "Is Sosua the Pattaya of the Caribbean". We obviously can all agree that on size and number scale it isn't, but then again what place is, there is obviously only one Pattaya, and one day I hope to go visit that place too, know quite a few people who swear by that place.

But back to the title, forgetting about the differences which have been stated, is it the Pattaya of the Caribbean? If not what is (again in the Caribbean not the world or SE Asia)? Or simply because of the size differences is it too stupid a question to legitimately consider or answer?

Perhaps Sosua is the closest thing to a Pattaya in the Carribean but I would say that there is nothing even remotely close to a Pattaya of the Carribean.

I agree. Its really not even apples and oranges. Pattaya is more like a watermelon while Sosua is a grape. Hey, I have 11 hours till I go wheels up for POP. I think I'll go drink me some wine!!:D

Exactly, I think this sums it up pretty well!

I wouldn't call Sosua the Pattaya of the Caribbean, it'd be misleading for those that have been to Pattaya and hit Sosua expecting something similar - they would be greatly disapointed.

As Mr Smooth stated its hard to believe for those of us who have not been there yet.
There really is no contest here.
I think most mongers can NOT even GRASP these #s.
30,000 Hookers in ONE location !!?? Think about it, thats like a STADIUM full of hookers. Where else in your lifetime will you ever see that ??
You physically can't even MEET them all, and even if you could , 30,000 NEW ones just turned 18.
and 3,000 bars ? I dont think you could have just ONE beer in every bar in your lifetime, even of you lived to be as old as Weyland.

Add to that the fact that it’s a dynamic mongering universe, that is, there are probably hundreds of girls leaving and entering the scene every week, a never-ending flow of replacement new entrants coming from upcountry…

Thanks for all your replies. It helps me to manage expectations.

It seems to me that going from Pattaya to Sosua is liken to going to an amusement park and riding the biggest and fastest roller coaster first. After that, the next roller coaster doesn't seem all that thrilling.

But I still look forward to going to Sosua. It's a new culture and a new experience. It should be fun. Besides, the girls in the DR sound like they have nicer ass, which is a welcomed change.

But seriously, if Pattaya were a giant roller coaster then you guys have given me the impression that Sosua is the Dumbo ride at Disneyland.

Well if Sosua is the Dumbo ride what does that make other monger destinations? At least Sosua made the conversation, and that is probably because of the fact that it is easily navigable, and the fact that you have many different putas in close proximity.

That of course leads to the next question, what exactly does a destination have to have to be considered a monger haven? Is it the sheer number of putas? Or is it many putas in close proximity, in an easily accessible or navigable location? Maybe it is the percentage of putas or available females as opposed to the females that aren't in the game (total relative female population). Or is it the price of putas, or maybe the price of amenities, hotels, food etc. Maybe it is a combination of available putas, in an exotic location. Maybe a place like Alaska have a higher percentage of putas to it relative female population but for other reasons it wouldn't be high on the monger's list.

For example I know that simply because of sheer numbers that Santo Domingo has more putas than Sosua (because it is by far much more populated), but they are spread out, and therefore it is a more difficult place to navigate, especially if you don't know the terrain.

Well if Sosua is the Dumbo ride what does that make other monger destinations?I don't think the Dumbo ride is a fair analogy.

With the right chica(s), Sosua can be as good as anywhere in the World.
Sosua has a nice variety of latinas and it is relatively quick, easy, and cheap to get to.

I don't think a destination needs the massive scale of Thailand to be great but Sosua can be rather limiting, especially for guys who are a bit leery of the freelancer scene.
It would be nice if there were a few more La Passion type places and a couple of Cristals too.
Boycotting such a place in Pattaya, Bangkok, or Angeles City would be no problem at all but what similar options do you have in Sosua and Puerto Plata?

I love the DR but if Thailand and the Philippines were in the Caribbean and the DR was on the other side of the planet, how many of us would be going to Sosua?

I think this is key.

Sheer volume of women and size of the destination does not make one a better destination than the other in and of its self.

Myself being very attracted to Latinas would probably pass up a smorgasboard of asian women to get to the appetizer in terms of sheer number of Latinas. I can only fit in so many women and bars in in 24 hours anyway so I would prefer to fill it with women that trip my trigger a little more.

I may have an opportunity to do a Bangkok/Malaysia trip for business and I would definitely sample what the area has to offer, no doubt, but on my own dime I don't think so!

I know a former co-worker who did three weeks in Bangkok and three in Malaysia on the company and he loved it.

Not even close. Pattaya has beer bars, massage joints, blowjob bars.....100's and 100's of locations. Sosua has basically just the small strip of bars, a couple scattered locatons but pales in comparison to Patts. I suspect the number of 'available' girls in Patts beats Sosua by 5-10 times over. You can wake up at 7 am in Patts and find a beer bar that is open and a girl that is ready to roll.....not the same in Sosua. Sosua does have a better beach than Patts imho. The Welcome Inn on Soi 3 in Patts has a half dozen to a dozen girls sitting outside at 11am waiting for clients....never seen that in Sosua.

I guess it really depends on some level on what you are looking for when you monger. If for example the SE Asian woman's body type doesn't appeal to you, then Pattaya wouldn't be for you, and visesaversa.

Not that Sosua has ever been called discreet, but in comparision it does sound to be a bit discreet:p:rofl: Isn't that a switch!

Ok, so I guess we have determined that Pattaya is the top mongering destination (the Mecca of Mongering, Disneyland of Mongering, 3 week long drink of mongering, the Las Vegas of mongering etc.), and it is obviously an insult to even suggest must less even mention another monger location in the same breath, sentence, or any other way or means of communication about the topic.

So having deterimined that, and fully understanding that it is folly to continue with the thread as it is presently constituted, let's go in another direction, shall we?

Ok, Pattaya is numeral uno! I got that!! So what are the other top locations and where would they be ranked?

I would say there are 3 that are definite ahead of the pack as far as countries:

1. Thailand 2. Phillipines 3. Brazil

The rest are second tier and hard to rank any above one another. But if I was:

4. FKK - Germany (even though I haven't been)
5. DR
6. Colombia
7. CR
8. Tijuauna

I am going to hear from the Colombia heads but hey just my opionion.....

It was great meeting you in the DR. Sorry I missed you at Passions. I hung around, toured and drank a couple of beers. As I mentioned, little miss chica who could suck the chrome off of a Kenworth was getting anxious. We went back to my place for a bit of R&R. I will definitely go back and like you now have a chica friend that I don't mind spending time with. I walked to Passions with a Jamaican brother who lives in the area and gave me the 411 about mongering in Sousa. I have a better handle based on the information from the two of you. Let me know if there are any websites in Thailand to check out. Later...

Will do! I think this whole thing regarding mongering destinations can be overblown at times. When you get right down to it, when your in bed with your girl playing a little slap and tickle, you can only slam your meat missile in one hole at a time. You can enjoy the experience for all that it's worth no matter where your at. Ain't it great that there are so many places to compare? Hearing different opinions about where to go always is entertaining to listen to. Yes, I am an advocate of Pattaya, but not everybody wants to spend close to 20 hours on a plane to get there. The DR is just fine. I'm here right now and aside from the humidity, things are going great. Sometimes a great mongering locale is more than just the women involved. There are quality keepers everywhere and also women who aren't worth a shit. It only takes one to make you have a great time or one to make you feel like your wasting your time. There is no perfect place to enjoy this hobby that we all share. But I am glad that there is always someplace new to turn someone on to if they have never been before. In the end, trips like these are what you make of them anyway. If you head back home with a smile on your face, thats what it's all about.
