Anyone know of a nice Cabana in POP or Sosua that has a jacuzzi? I was in hollywood cabana in POP and it wasn't anything special.

I visited a new cabaña being built from the ground up in Puerto Plata today. It is next to the university so will be the first one you come across as you leave the city towards Costambar. I am assured it will beat all other local cabañas for quality while maintaining a reasonable price and, knowing the person responsible, I believe it. I don't know what it will be called or when it will open (I guess in a couple of months?).

Strange that so many cabañas are grouped in one area (between Puerto Plata and Imbert) while Sosúa has none. Something to do with zoning laws I suppose.

Try Palomar in POP. Ask the attendent and they will make it happen for you. The Presidential is great for a party but no Jacuzzi. Palomar has other cabanas with jacuzzi. There also a villa with a private pool.

Nope.

It's so you minimize driving from one to the next when all the rooms are full in one of them.

You don't want to drive all over town checking each cabana to see if there's one available.

I would think there should be a couple between Sosua and Cabarete.
Some people in Sosua use a dingy short-time hotel because there are no cabanas nearby and they don't want to travel all the way to the cabanas past Puerto Plata.

Sensacion has some jacuzzi rooms (Executive).
Last time I was there in December the price was 480 pesos for 4 hours.
Some times there is not much hot water and it can take a long time to fill up.

Simple, the price of land in Sosua is much higher..

There is actually a nice one just outside Cabarete as you head towards Sabaneta on the right. Sounds far but its closer than the drive to PP. I saw one room there with a nice jacuzzi although I did not partake so do not know how well it works, cost etc.. but the room was nice. Sorry I don't know the name of the place. You could drive by and miss it becase it does not say cabana or have one of the crazy names like Pegasus, Zeus, etc. Maybe some one else on here can fill in the information gap. I may hit it up again in Sept.

I love going to a Cabana once in a while to mix things up a bit. Some of the rooms are amazing and the costs vary by room and the number of hours you want to stay. The cost is reasonable. The problem I have had is not finding a room with a jacuzzi. The problem is I have yet to find a place that has enough hot water to fill the damn thing.

The name is Costa Mar.

A few weeks ago I used the one of the Executive cabanas, very nice but the cost was RD$895 for 4 hours.

Maybe should be renamed Costa Mucho!!

By the way the Sencilla rooms are very nice too, but no jacuzzi.

Thanks for the info. the regular room was 700RD for 4hrs. There are also a few just past Sabaneta heading to GH which is still closer than any in POP I know. Not sure why there are none between the airport and PP. Looks like an excellent spot.
