Why don't you report some of those great stories right here, on the board:iconTU:, so everyone can enjoy them instead of via PM's:confused:

As far as hotels, there is some good info, if you do a search or check out the Santiago reports or Santiago hotel section of the site.

I myself don't know much about Santiago, but there are definitely a few afficionados.

What type of hotel are you looking for (high end, more inexpensive)?

Yayow- thats a good point. Ill post in the PP section. Im new to this so I hope you can give me a newbie pass:lol: I started a thread in the Santiago hotels section as well to get advice. It looks like Camp David is cool but far from everything.

Gdogg- under $100/night but i would like to sleep with both eyes closed

I generally stay in the Aloha Sol when I'm in Santiago. The rooms are decent (nothing to brag about) and reasonably priced ($54 and up). But the thing I like most about this hotel is that it is centrally located to everything. Because it's right in the middle of downtown Santiago, it's within walking distance of banks, grocery stores, pharmacies, the flea market etc. But it's also within walking distance of the monument and all of the bars and restaurants surrounding it.

Though $150RD is enough to get you just about anywhere in Santiago by taxi (other than the airport), I like to walk as much as I can because I believe that it's the best way to experience the city and it's people. So I generally make the Aloha Sol my base and go from there.

Im actually leaning towards Aloha Sol... i think its location is perfect for a newbie to Santiago. Im only going for 4 days/3 nights...hopefully i can have some fresh DR material that can be useful to the forum. Should I have a local reserve for me or it doesnt matter?

It doesn't matter, the price will be the same. That said, to make the most of Santiago, you'll need to have a good grasp of Spanish, and maybe hook up with one of you POP contacts who knows his way around Santiago. It's not like Sosua, where everything is more or less on one street.

My spanish is quite solid but im not fluent. Also, where's everyone favorite spot to pick up girls? or will i be welcomed in the lobby of Aloha Sol?

LOL! No. It's definitely not that type of hotel. Though they are guest friendly, they try to maintain a certain atmosphere. At lot of well-to-do dominican families and businessmen stay there. Therefore, they greatly appreciate discretion when bringing in guests. The type of hotel where girls hang out in the lobby really doesn't exist in Santiago. It's not a tourist town. And the pros there handle themselves a lot more discretely.

There are a lot of different places to pick up girls in Santiago. Rather than list them all, I'd encourage you to read up in this section, as quite a bit has been posted. However, I will tell you this. Be prepared to use your spanish, as hardly any of the girls will speak english. And just remember that Santiago IS NOT SOSUA. Therefore, you'll have to adjust your mongering strategy accordingly.

Good Luck.

OK DC...I think I understand the vibe there. I'll try to be discreet when Im there. I actually look dominican which helps so I wont stick out too bad but I wont bring in the sluttiest looking chick in there either:D. Ill dig around some other threads for spots to go. Thanks again!

For straight P4P you have pretty much 3 main options:

Passions

Illusiones

Casa Blanca

There are car washes such as:

Kelvin

Gomez Diaz

Korona - I have heard they have reopened

Colonia - may be closed?

You can also hang out near the monument at the bars. Ahi Bar is known to have some chicas looking to hook up but again santiago is about 1,000,000 % more discreet than Sosua.

Santiago is not a place for beginners. If you go to the Night Clubs yes you will find girls of all sizes and shapes but it will cost you...carwashes are more hit or miss! During the day it will not be an easy task to find company even speaking decent spanish. The place is much more private which is good but requires more time and effort to "hunt" for what you want. I love Santiago and there are some very nice hotels and restaurants of all price ranges. I have stayed at the Grand Almirante (Jr. Suites very nice) and the Marriott (I do not believe that it is a Marriott anymore as it was bought out) as it has a nice suite with Jaccuzi and a large TV. I do stay at either place when I am on a budget. I have been 8 or more times in the past two years but I have always brought my entertainment (from POP / Sosua) with me or arranged for it to meet me when I arrive at the airport.

Puerto Plata (FOD or BB's) and Sosua (everywhere) have much more to offer and for a better price (bang for the buck) than Santiago. You will also find more like minded individuals to hang out with in Puerto Plata and Sosua.

Lots of girls in santiago but you need a car, some spanish and a bit of a plan. its a big city with a lot of traffic at certain times too. everything is much more spread out and its not so much of a tourist town. that extends to the chicas too so they arent as receptive as in sosua. that said with a bit of a plan and some spanish you wouldnt have a problem if your a little patient.

So your saying the 4K-6K RD prices I am hereing are not justified. I am thinking of a side trip to Santiago only because I was told by some regular mongers and some Dominicans that sosua women are bottom dwelling fish and you get better bang for your buck quality wise in Santiago. Hell, just last week average bitchs were turning there noses up at 1500 for a quickie and 2500TLN.

Daaayuuum!!!!:confused: Where you hearing prices like that:confused:, I would definitelhy move in another direction, than pay those types of prices, I ain't cheap but prices like that aren't even in my vocabulary.

As far as chicas turning up their noses at those prices, that's crazy, there ain't that many clients in town for them to turn their noses at anything, stay patient and be willing to walk away, you walk away from a few that quote you those prices and the word will get out that you ain't a fool, and you will be surprised how quickly the prices get back in line.

The regular Sosua chica that is there 24/7, may be considered as bottom dwellers by some, I personally don't see it that way, as I have received much pleasure over the years from some of those so called bottom dwellers, and remember many of those Sosua chicas especially on the weekends are actually the same chicas you will see in Santiago or Santo Domingo. Same chicas in many instances, how is it when they are in Santiago they are top notch, and when they decide to spend the weekend in Sosua they all of a sudden become bottom dwellers, I don't get it:confused:

Please!!

actually i had a novia in santiago which i visited a few times and i mongered there to but not that much as im usually alone which can get boring and as we all know your never alone in sosua. i went to kelvin car wash, a few girls there but nothing special. i found the car washes to be more of a dominican thing, but you never know so pop in for a beer once in a while. down the block from kelvin there are a few clubs , i went to one maybe was called Monte Carlo? both are near los colinas mall. some hotties in there but i got into a little scuff, well i think i did anyway as i spoke much less spanish then, so i had one more beer ( the guy watched me the whole time) and left. found passions, werent many girls there that night but i grabbed a nice flacita from santo domingo and went to the cabanas across the road ( passions is far from los colinas from what i remember, its definitely near the airport). i saw a really hot half asian there with a dominican body and asian face but she was with someone. from what i remember the beer is expensive there. i also went to a few all domincan places near the monument. got some looks from the girls , one hit me in the ass as i went by and another one tried to kiss me when i was walking to the bathroom. Santiago is a little advanced as far as the DR goes but you an meet girls. I would say at least some spanish would be a must, i noticed once i knew enough spanish that i could get my personality across freebies came often. I'm 44 and fat here but not in the DR. Ive driven through the island alone and never been bothered, plenty of hitch hikers to pick up too. one thing ive learned is most of the domincans in sosua are different from the people on the rest of the island.

Not really my friend. Most of the dimes in Santiago don't ever go to Sosua. They don't have to. There are enough Dominican men with money in Santiago without them having to go to Sosua to seek out gringos. I gotta tell ya, the Santiaguerras I've seen in Sosua are hardly representative of the stunners you regularly encounter in the Cibao region of the country. Seriously.

I wouldn't necessarily call the chicas you find in Sosua bottom dwellers. Hell, I manage to come up with quite a few dimes every time I go (I'll actually be there next week:D.) But Sosua simply can't compare to Santiago when it comes to chicas. That's a fact. Sosua is just point and click, whereas Santiago requires a little more effort.

I have to admit im a bit stuck here:confused: I thought about going to Sosua for 1 day out of my 4 day trip to Santiago. But after reading these posts, I might just go to Sosua/PP for the whole stay. I guess what attracts me to Santiago is the talk of finer women and I never been there but I feel like I'll be on a mission to get quality ass. It sounds like Santiago should be done on a longer trip to DR (my trip is 4d/3n) when i can split up the time between Sosua and Santiago evenly so if Santiago sucks, I have time to take out my anger on some poor chica in La Passion:D... Anyway, I guess I have some thinking to do...

Well, what can I say. I guess that your YMMV. My friends and I never have any problem finding companionship in Santiago. No matter the time of day. But you can't expect it to be like Sosua. I've met dimes in bars, restaurants, fast food joints, grocery stores, and simply walking down the street. You just have to have a different approach in Santiago. The chicas there really won't be looking for you like in Sosua. You are going to have to be able to approach and talk to them in their own language. And you can't stand out like a clueless gringo. That will work against you.

And as for finding like-minded individuals. Try making friends with a few dominican guys. And I'm not talking about touts. I'm talking about regular dominicans. Dominican guys monger with the best of them. I find it ridiculous when human rights folk rant about tourists coming to the DR to sleep with the working girls when, in fact, the majority of the the working girls there service local men, not tourists.

Make friends with a dominicano and ask him to give you the number of a hot beeper chica. And I guarantee you that she won't cost 4-5k pesos. I never pay those ridiculous rates anymore.

But I agree. The North Coast is much better for newbies. Though I'll always maintain that you sacrifice quality for point and click mongering.

Was staying at NG and had a date with a "nice girl" from Villa Gonzalez. Had been with her once before on another trip and we were going to dinner in Santiago and then would spend the night there. Had a rental and was driving from Sosua to STI via POP when I passed this hottie alongside the road in Montellano. Quickly pulled over and offered her a ride to POP. After a bit of conversation, turns out she was going home to STI and so I do the good samaritan thing and offer to take her there. I stopped to buy her a grande from a colmado. I told her I was going to STI for a date. By the time we hit the tunnel, she was all over me. Pulled her top up and had me play with her cenos while she played with my guevo. All along trying to convince me to dump the date and go with her to STI. Finally, just short of Villa Gonzalez, I pulled over and she rewarded me with BBJCIM. She jumped out to catch a gua-gua and I called her back and gave her 500P for "bus fare". She took it with a smile and an Adios, Papi. Only time its happened to me in dozens of trips around the island.

Ive been to POP 4 times in the last 3 years so Im not a newbie in that sense. Stayed at Playa Dorada 2x (I wish I knew of ISOC then but i made good use of the cabanas and paid off a guard ($US 5) to bring a chick up one nite), Lomar, and an apt (cant remember the name of the place because it was in the middle of nowhere) but I never stayed in Sosua at all. I only went to Sosua once to the beach but i had a chick on my arm so I didnt get into any other activities. Im travelling solo (which i did 3 out of my 4 times going to DR) but its cool meeting like-minded individuals which happens everytime im in POP. It seems like i will be rollin solo in Santiago which is OK but if the girls have their head in the clouds...it will be rough. I guess I'll do a coin flip and decide where i stay:D From what ive read on these threads, I must say I am leaning to Sosua at least one day though...plus i might be on lockdown from DR for at least 6 months so I need to get all my mongering in this short trip

Bottom dwellers may be a bad term to use but comparing sosua chicas to STI is like Honda to BMW. I have no problems with Hondas, they are good cars. Most woould agree that beamers are better.

There are tons of chicas in STI that do not go to sosua to work. Even the ones that do know they could go just on weekends and make some quick bucks, though a really hot chica that knows the ropes could make way more in STI. . . .. of course some might like being the big fish in the small pond. If you are a hot chica and have "good hair" nice clothes, probably have at least some education and you are surrounded by charamicos barrio girls with barrio clothes, less salon visits and most likely never finished HS. . . .. . you could probably clean up even if you are not better. . . . .just different.

In Santiago a good place is Hotel Matum. $60 to $70 bucks, guest friendly as long as everyone acts respectable. It overlooks the monument, has a small disco, casino, near Ahi bar, near Mucara Kakura Resturant (sp?) and the Monument has action in the parking lot on weekends.

If you got time, do both STI and Sosua. The bus ride is cheap and entertaining. Lots of chicas on the bus, sightseeing and maybe a few near-fatal accidents. But your safe on the bus.

As long as you don't go over a cliff...:rolleyes:

Is Ambis still open? That spot used to be golden. On the nights they had a live band the place would be chock-full of pros, semi-pros, and non-pros. The pros and semi-pros like to hang out by the back bar close to the pool tables. In fact, a lot of the chicas from Casa Blanca and Pasiones like to hang out there before they go to work.

If you speak spanish and can dance, it's almost too easy to convince a chica to go to a cabana with you that night. Or you could simply collect digits for future use. Which is, by the way, one of the best ways to score daytime toto. God I loved that place.

It shut down for a mintue. But I heard that it's open again. One of your best bets if you only have one night in town. But you definitely gotta speak spanish. Hardly any gringos there and the only other english speakers will be Domincans from NY down to visit family.

And it's a great place to dance and listen to some good dominican music.:D

I'll keep Ambis in mind. In regards to my spanish speaking abilities, my spanish is not terrible...took in HS and college and practice more when I go to DR. I can hold a decent conversation but Im not fluent.

I read another thread about Overlounge on Thurs nights in Santiago. It looked like some hotties that go there but Im already prepared that is not like POP chicks where i can just take them out. It looks like an actual nightclub.

This trip to DR was a last minute trip to get away from wifey for 4 days. Im still deciding on my trip plans whether to do battle in Santiago or take the easy route and try Sosua.

actually i had a novia in santiago which i visited a few times and i mongered there to but not that much as im usually alone which can get boring and as we all know your never alone in sosua. i went to kelvin car wash, a few girls there but nothing special. i found the car washes to be more of a dominican thing, but you never know so pop in for a beer once in a while. down the block from kelvin there are a few clubs , i went to one maybe was called Monte Carlo? both are near los colinas mall. some hotties in there but i got into a little scuff, well i think i did anyway as i spoke much less spanish then, so i had one more beer ( the guy watched me the whole time) and left. found passions, werent many girls there that night but i grabbed a nice flacita from santo domingo and went to the cabanas across the road ( passions is far from los colinas from what i remember, its definitely near the airport). i saw a really hot half asian there with a dominican body and asian face but she was with someone. from what i remember the beer is expensive there. i also went to a few all domincan places near the monument. got some looks from the girls , one hit me in the ass as i went by and another one tried to kiss me when i was walking to the bathroom.

I must have missed this first time around.

The bars near Kelvins are Monte Bar, where the play Merengue Tipico, Patron Burger which now has a new name I can't remember and is more of a "disco" now than it was before with a second floor for dancing. Behind MOnte Bar is Rancho Tipico Las Colinas, which is a bit more lower class than Monte Bar but can be fun.

Passion Illusiones etc are on the way to the airport. Near the monument you have kukara makara and Montezuma which are "normal" restaurants etc. If you make the right at the corner and walk down the hill there are a bunch of little bars etc. Walk further down the hill and make a right, walk a block or so and you will be at Ahi Bar. many "normal" locals hang out there but some semi pros as well. Way more discreet than Sosua etc.

Not sure what the scuff was about but one must be careful to not treat any girl you meet in STI, like the girls you meet on Sosua. In sosua 98.5% are available for P4P, in STI that number is WAY lower.

one thing ive learned is most of the domincans in sosua are different from the people on the rest of the island.

Well, in Sosua and Boca Chica you have whores, pimps (chulos) and drug dealers from all over the island to make money off the tourists. However, you will still see the same shit all over the island (their own barrios), except the campos - where there's less tigueres and drug pushing than in the cities.

In general, I find the lower class dominicans are opportunistic and looking ways to make money either from you or from their own, it really doesn't matter. It just happens that others, like those in Sosua or BC, are prone to exxagerate and even cause threats/scams to get their money. That's why you read about guys getting their money/wallet swiped, and some other stupid shit I read.

In Santiago, SD, Bonao, and a few other cities I have tigueres approaching me in the street - it gets worse in Illusion/Passions saluting me like "yo, wassup". Since I'm latino, I act like if I don't know english.

I avoid people who speak english, and I don't befriend hookers, chulos, drug dealers.

Rocko, are you sure about this ?? elite models ? Never seen any of those in Sosua..that post was from Sosua in the middle of my vacation after seeing some stunning Chicas for a week........elite models no......but saw some beautiful Chicas that could pass for half decent swimsuit models.......that is for dayum sure........

and after seeing what Jimbo, Kenny, Tiger, Blackarcher, etc have been putting up here on ISOC for pics.......maybe I haven't seen the best looking Chicas that Sosua has to offer just quite yet......which gives me more motivation to get back to Sosua and see if I can't tag some more hot Chicas myself.......

though if I think Sosua is pretty awesome.......what happens to this guy if he ever lands in Columbia or Rio........lol
