The Banco Popular Dominicano launched its second housing fair yesterday, offering 20,000 housing units at just about every price point. The fair was opened simultaneously in Santo Domingo and in Santiago. More than 40 builders and real estate managers are offering their wares. Last year the bank financed more than 1,000 housing units and released over RD$3.0 billion by December 2005. As BPD president Manuel A. Grullon opened the fair, he mentioned some technological innovations for this year's event. One of these is the use of a computerized credit scoring system, which facilitates the loan process. Another new service is an advance on mortgaging, which came about as a result of last year's fair, when the need to finance housing units during their construction phase became evident. The fair will be open in both cities until next Sunday.
