The National Emergency Commission (COE) has placed the country under green alert due to the possible flooding from rain caused by a tropical wave moving over Puerto Rico, the DR and Haiti. COE Director Colonel Juan Mendez Garcia explained that the green alert was declared after the Weather Department warned of possible flooding and landslides. Forecasts for today include mostly cloudy skies with rain, mainly affecting Hato Mayor, El Seibo, Higuey, San Pedro de Macoris, La Romana, Santo Domingo, San Cristobal, Peravia, Azua, Barahona, Pedernales, Bahoruco, San Juan, Elias Pina, Independencia, Central Cibao and the National District.
