Penthouse Advice??

Hopefully, you guys can give me your "expert" opinion on the Penthouse. A good friend and I are planning a visit over July 4th and have decided to split about 3 nights at BB's and 3 nights in Sosua. Obviously, we will get separate, banging rooms in town but didn't know what you guys thought about us both staying in the Penthouse? I know plenty of room, extra space, etc...but didn't know if you guys would recommend us EACH getting a single room and hanging out in the public areas and then going back to "freaky, freaky" --that will be the method later in Sosua. OR.... securing the Penthouse at BB and us entertaining in a more social, group atmosphere?? Any help or insight into your experiences would be appreciated!!:smile:

The penthouse is great, the bedrooms are private and they have a large living room. But they've always had a problem with leaky pipes, if thats doesn't bother you then it's a great choice and less expense than two seperate rooms.

I had the penthouse to myself on my first trip to Barba Negra. Spacious and comfortable.

1 thing though is that the living room is has NO ac so you are going in July. That said I enjoyed the partying there but nver stood in the living room long enough to mind it not having AC.

Also get ice for the drinks unless its just beer. Those damn small fridges fill up fast. If you buy the party platter Chicas will devour it faster than you think so get double what you think you need.

Don't sweat the details of the trip (plan but dont get too crazy) until about a month or 2 before your trip. Read every trip report and as many other reports that you can the a month before blast off fire away with the questions. By then 90% of what you want to know will be answered.

Hey Trib, when you say get ice for the drinks are you talking about sneaking in booze. Way back when I was hotel shopping they told me you couldn't bring in your own and for me that would be huge. Obviously who would see a bottle in luggage but a couple cases of beer security would see. What do ya know?

do ask dont tell I say. Just dont leave the bottle(s) in plain sight of the cleaning people and a few drink beers from the fridge to keep them quite about the empties.

Agreed and I am glad it works for you. I will post a few photos of my full trash cans and counters after a good night with a wild woman after next week for your amusement. In a typical motel room with 1 waste basket in the bathroom and one in the room I usually have both full and a pizza box behind one :rofl: Have a great time and thanks for the camera tips maybe I will catch you next time.

I guess I'm leaning towards the penthouse for us, that way we have the resort, and then the option of a little private social scene until we retire into separate quarters!! I'm really looking forward to some Jacuzzi fun on a Sunday night! Any advice on that?? I guess grab a few to party with in the water for awhile and then pick to move the party upstairs??

A Deluxe Double USED to have ONE television, ONE Air Conditioner, ONE bedroom with a door, and ONE bathroom with ONE door. Well, our fearless leader decided it was time to make our Deluxe Doubles more in line with Blackbeard's philosophy . . . make em' better. So now, we are renovating the “DD's” and they will have TWO televisions, TWO air conditioners, TWO bedroom doors (no longer one room separated from the living area by a partition) and TWO bathroom doors!! Well, all of that good Penthouse advice and research and was told to wait until 6 months out, roughly January, to book. DID, I tried to book the Penthouse on Jan. 3 for July 3 and guess what?? BOOKED--wtf?? I was told all rooms were open EXCEPT the Penthouse! Thats okay, we booked 2 separates and won't let that spoil our FUN. We should arrive on Saturday for the weekend, just in time for the Bikini contest and the rest of the activities. I've read all kinds of great info but can anyone give me their BB experience with the "sent" taxi driver?? Ideally, I was thinking of walking out of customs with my carry-on, meeting my taxi driver, quick stops at Pharmacy for Blue candy, exchange some money, and throw a couple of liquor bottles into our luggage. Any thoughts on how cool the driver will be or will he rat us out with the liquor?? and where to actually stop??? I would think if I acted like I knew of the best places, he might not try to take us to his buddies place! I guess money talks!!

If you let them know when you are coming and on what airline, they will will have a taxi driver come from Costambar for you. He will be waiting for you outside with a sign with your name on it.

the drivers will pretty much do what you want, just through them a little something when they drop you off. The only possible concern would be they will take you to there spots for the things you are asking for.

Good, I got their driver picking me up....just wanted to make sure he would be cool with running those few errands with me as we rush to BB's!

I stayed in the Penthouse suite 2 (April/May and Oct/Nov) of the last 3 times I was at BB’s in 2009. Both times a friend occupied the other bedroom. The first time the second bedroom only had a sliding glass door with drapes (similar to a balcony door). On the second stay, it had its own wooden door. Either way both occupants had the privacy they needed.

On both occasions, my friend did not show up until I had been there for a couple of days. So, I did what any friend would do and had sessions :woohoo:in both beds. Of course, I did not tell them that I mongered in their bed until we left. :rofl2:

On both occasions, we had some great parties in the living room. I even played the naked bartender and got a chica to give me a BJ :bj1: while I made her a drink.

The other time I was at BB’s last year (Jul), I stayed in the Jacuzzi suite. I like this room because it is right outside the Crows Nest. I did not have to go far once I settled on a chica. We even got the ambience and music from the Crows Nest until it closed for the evening.

If you decide to fire up the Jacauzzi, be prepared to wait a bit for the tub to fill up. The Jacuzzi is in the bathroom. During the day, it is the hottest place in the room because of the skylight window. They ask you close the bathroom door during the day to conserve the AC. Notice that the commode is right in front of the Jacuzzi and the shower curtains do not go all the way around. It made for a special view when the chica went to take a leak. :shower: :toilet: :D

A few weeks before you are to arrive at Blackbeards, you will get a confirmation email to lock in your reservation. You might call them and see if the person who booked the Penthouse canceled. People always plan ahead and those plans get changed. I think it is worth a shot.

Two regular rooms sutied me and mu friend just fine. I felt the suite wasn't necessary.

My take on the Penthouse,
I've stayed there twice and shared the Penthouse with my brother.
One Bedroom is clearly nicer than the other.
The large bathroom with the party show is cool but the Penthouse is farther from the hot water heater than any other room at the Hotel and in the morning the lack of hot water is a problem; also you are sharing the bathroom. There is a second bathroom but it doesn't have a shower or tub.

The second room of the pent house has a grate at the top of the door so you can hear everything going on in there. Also the AC takes longer to cool the room down
