If you visit the DR, Blackbeard's needs to be on your list of places to go. I have been here three times this year: 100th Bikini Contest, 4th of July Bikini Contest and the Halloween Party. John, Tim and their crew know how to throw a party.
I talked about Blackbeard's so much after my second visit this year that several members of the cigar club that I belong to decided to throw a 40th birthday party for two of our members there. Ten of us came together from DC and Philly at Blackbeard's and had a great time. The three months of planning was worth it because the Blackbeard's was well organized and exceeded our expectations. It all culminated in a great evening in the outdoor (huge) jacuzzi that went on into the wee hours of the night.
I am already planning several more trips to Blackbeard's next year.

I agree that BB's can put on a great event. I have even thrown a few that were more of last min. affairs and they were easy to work with. One thing to remember...if you are going to bring a group down is that there are other guests there as well. I have always invited other "non group" members to join in to make it an even larger party rather than an us vs. them situation. Having been to BB's over 20 times I can tell you that they love groups that follow the rules, are not overly loud, do not degrade the girls / staff, act like jerks when they drink to much and become out of control. John , Tim and the rest of the staff will roll out the Red Carpet for you.
They will also shut you down and tell you and your group never to return if you all do not follow the rules. Yes they want your money but will not take very much rude BS from anyone.

Very true. They are not receptive to the "Animal House" party mentality.
But for a group of guys that want to have a nice time with a group of well mannered girls, you can't do better for the price.

We made sure everyone, was included in the party. This is a reason why BB's rules were important to us. We did not want some non-group member ruining it for all. I was at a bachelor party earlier in the year at Field of Dreams and it got way out of hand. BB's rules are there for a reason....the main one being that everyone has a good time.

It would be good if they let you bring in your own booze.

That would be cool, but guys don't know how to keep the bottles in the room. It fucks with John's bar money and he isn't going to change his mind.

8 guys renting rooms for a week is good money. He should be happy with that.

This would especially a nice touch for a group party and there was something we wanted that BB's did not sell or could not get. The group I was with was all from our DC cigar club and we are partial to high end single malt scotches and some of the rarer vodkas. It was a blended scotch (Johnnie Black) and rum (Ron Barceló Imperial) couple of days. The vodkas on hand were mostly only good for mixing. At least, there were lots of ice cold Presidentes to keep us from being completely parched. :D

You should plan a trip back there and pull Dawson out of Dexter's laboratory to come with you. I plan on going back for a few days sometime next year. A quick 4 day trip. You down?? Let's coordinate.
