The Dominican government will receive 25,000 tons of wheat worth US$7 million, following an agreement signed by Economy, Planning & Development Minister Temistocles Montas and the United States Embassy Charge d'Affaires Christopher Lambert. A Ministry news release said that the income from the wheat sales would be used to strengthen the country's capacity to trade and compete on world markets with Dominican agricultural products. According to the US diplomat, the funds will be used to improve laboratory facilities and the capacity to use analytical methods, and to develop vegetable and animal health standards.
