Is this place near the water like the Hilton?
If one has to choose between Marriott and Hilton, which would you pick?

SJG
10-08-2006, 02:18 PM
Hilton on the water in Boca Chica = $1435.00 for the week
Hilton in the city of Santo Domingo = $945 for the week
Marriott Courtyard in city = free (reward points, $637 for the week)

I'll stick with Marriott, it's about 20 minutes ride to the beach, but it's free for me. Hilton is a step up in quality if price is not an issue, and being on the beach can't be beat.

Hilton AKA Hamaca in Boca Chica is 100% NON GF unless you check them in and buy them an AI bracelet for about $75USD or more. Impossible to pay off security.

Thanks. And I can report that as of today (Jan. 3) the Marriott Courtyard continues to be very chica friendly.

I have been here 4 days and made two friends -- non professionals. The hotel had no problem whatsoever with one leaving and one joining me a short while later (then the first one coming back -- then the 2nd one returning).

They do have to produce their i.d.

Have a great time Jimmy.

Make sure you visit a chica-casa called "GBP". Its only 1,000 pesos for a full-body massage (with lotion or baby oil) and sex.

If you enter the place, the left-hand side will be a bar (with tons of balloons on the ceiling), and if you walk straight, you will see a fitness room. But almost all of the equipment do not work. Its just there for "display".

You can take your time (no time limit).

Here are directions to the place. Its only a 10-minute (depending on traffic) drive from the Malecon.

http://news.insearchofchicas.org/forum/showthread.php?t=62793

All the other chica-casa's charge 2,000 or more (for two hours of time).

Have fun!!!

It's 1000 pesos for each girl, so for a threesome, it's 2000 pesos, but that's not the kind of threesome I like.

And most of the equipment does work, BTW. I've had some fun with a chica on the big exercise machine in the back..

Where is the Marriot Garden Hotel and is it girl friendly? I just checked Marriot's website and the only hotels that pop up in Santo Domingo are the Jaragua and the Marriot Courtyard. I'll have a rental car and I have a room booked at the Marriot Courtyard for now but after reading through Cheeno's posts, I don't want to get caught up in all the traffic/construction everyday.

This will be my first trip to Santo Domingo, I've mongered pretty much exclusively on the North Coast: Cabarete, Sosua, Puerto Plata and Santiago. Since I will have a rental car, don't know my way around and I can't find any good GPS maps of the DR to load into my Garmin, anyone have recommendations for maps?

Thanks in advance,
- J.

Traffic sucks from 8am until 10am and then again from 4:30pm until 7:30pm.

And avoid the areas that have construction.

On Sundays, there is no traffic.

Hey guys

I stayed one night at the Courtyard Mariott which is located on Maximo Gomez.

I like the hotel because of the following reasons:

It is located in a quiet location (away from the drama at the Malecon)
It is only a five-minute walk from the United States Embassy
It is only a ten-minute walk from the Canadian Embassy
No guest feeI paid $129 USD (including 26% tax).

Hey Maximus

During the day, they have free coffee, water and cookies in the lobby. I ate five cookies. An hour later, I had to go to the bathroom to take a shit. :(

I know this is mentioned in one or two other threads but if you stay there, remember that Marriott owns the Renaissance Jaragua and you can ask them to call over so you can use the pool there. The pool at the Marriott is very small but I used it like a big ass jacuzzi and had many nice times in it with my "main squeeze" from Santo Domingo:mrgreen:. The pool at the Jaragua is larger by far.

Yesterday, I went to the Mariott and asked for their rate.

Even with my AAA discount, they wanted $159 USD plus 26% tax.

You get the special $69 plus 26% tax if you book for several days.

But the Mariott is one of the best hotels in Santo Domingo.

Anyway, I stayed one night at the Raizor (58 USD) and another night at the Hilton (110 USD plus 26% tax).

The Napolitano has a $75 USD plus 26% rate.

Just out of curiosity, has anyone stayed at the Renaissance Jaragua Hotel and Casino? I have enough points to stay there for free for the week, or I could use half the points and stay at the Courtyard. Is there enough of a difference to want to stay at the beach? Should I be worried about bringing back "guests" in either location?

If you do stay at the Jaragua make sure that you're in the two level section and not the tower. It's a lot easier to bring guests in there. It's alot closer to the action on Independencia where I like to go on my free range punani safaris. You can't beat the location. It's a shame that they're so ridiculous about having guests in the main hotel.

There's a guard at the gate to the parking lot and you can easily access the entrance to the garden level rooms without him even seeing you whereas everybody knows everything that's going up and down the elevators in the tower.

A buddy of mine (and his bi wife) stayed there last January and they (and their many "guests") loved it. The rooms in the garden level section are well appointed and very comfortable with mini fridge, Uwave, etc...

That works. They don't have problems with double occupancy, just puta traffic. It's okay to "wife up" at any of the Malecon "4-stars". I have noticed, however that there are select putas working out of the hotel who get a pass on this. jd426 is correct--the Jaragua has the VERY BEST swimming pool in Santo Domingo.

The Hilton comes in a distant second.

I would agree, I stayed at the Courtyard in October 2010 and it was chica-friendly but they make you sign a waiver that if anything is damaged due to your guest you are responsible. Great dinner barbeque they had one night. It is more of a low profile chica-friendly type place. It is also away from the malecon & el conde so you would need a taxi or drive. You might want to consider this fact if you want to be close to the casas. Marriott is about 5 - 10 minute drive depending on traffic to get to the malecon. So not really meant if you wanted to walk to the cases. Has anyone been there recently and can provide updates about the Courtyard.

Been in Marriot for a couple days now. I love this hotel when they offer the weekend discounts. For $80/night, good breakfast and wifi included I think its a great deal when you want full American style hotel comfort.

But during the week they raise the prices to $140/ night, no breakfast or wifi included. Out of my price range. They are trying to fleece the business folks working in country. The place is still packed during the week.

Guest friendly. They make you sign a waiver and take a photocopy of her cedula. Otherwise no problems.

Great hotel and good location on Maximo Gomez. This is a old forum, but to give you the latest update, can't say enough good things about the hotel. Very clean, large spacious rooms and yes, still chica friendly. Its top notch for a Courtyard, not like the typical properties in the US. This place has character, in an old style Spanish mansion kind of way. On Wed nights they have a fantastic all-you-eat BBQ (all types of meats and trimmings) out on the patio area. I think its about 500 pesos.
