A billion in baskets

The government says that it will spend a billion pesos on Christmas baskets this year, or more precisely, on the Christmas gifts that it distributes primarily to the poor. They said that nearly 5 million boxes would be prepared and distributed through the Presidential Social Plan. Hoy newspaper says that this has been an ongoing tradition, but never on this scale. All 1,400 Plan offices will take part in the distribution of the boxes. In keeping with tradition, President Fernandez will travel around the country to take part in public distributions.
