National District chief prosecutor, Jose Miguel Hernandez support the creation of a specialized civil technical police force, independent of the National Police, that would assist state prosecutors in the investigation of crime. He said that the number of police agents that are involved in crime makes it necessary to seek another formula, aside from a purging of the institution, to fight crime. As reported in the Listin Diario, he advocated that this force not have ranks and be under a civilian. "I believe that the purging that is going on in the police is not producing the desired results," said Hernandez.
