Government phone bill
The government has accepted that its debt with Verizon stands at RD$433.6 million for arrears in several departments. According to Diario Libre, the agriculture ministry owes RD$26.5 million, the Police RD$40 million, Education RD$20.5 million, JCE RD$16 million, the Army RD$15 million and the Presidential Palace RD$15 million. Hoy newspaper reports that at the start of the Mejia administration, the bill was RD$36 million.

If you notice the bill started at RD$36m and now it's RD$433.6m, that is a lot of phone calls in 7 months!!!

That's US$13,000,000 in 7 months! All of the Wall Street brokerage firms together probably don't generate phone bills that high.

I wonder why it's $RD8 PESOS a fucking minute for a local Cell call.
The public has to absorb the cost of the Governmental ladronas that steal the service. I spent over $US50 on phone cards this trip. I finally became Dominican and just waited for inbound calls !

I had the chicas call me back all the time. I would say something enticing and hang up. I knew they'd call back.
