According to the District Attorney for the National District, Juan Francisco Hernandez, his office is investigating the origin of the 15 vehicles whose registration papers showed that they belonged to Pedro Julio "Pepe" Goico Guerrero, the former army colonel facing fraud indictments. According to El Caribe, the DA said that the registration papers were found during a search of properties allegedly belonging to former army captain, Quirino Paulino Castillo. Listin Diario says that the registration papers were found during a search of Goico's house. The official is trying to find out whether these vehicles have a similar history to the helicopter that belonged to Paulino Castillo. Hernandez said that there were a lot of similarities that led him to think that the purchase of these vehicles was carried out in a less-than-legal manner. He asked how all these vehicles "could be registered in the name of someone who earned a salary of less than RD$30,000."
News reports say that the vehicles were assigned to people in government, including the First Lady.
