Verizon Dominicana reveals that it has paid the Dominican government 32.4 billion pesos over the last five years, an average of nearly RD$18 million per day, making it the largest taxpayer in the Dominican Republic. Eduardo Valcarcel Bodega, the communications director of the huge telecommunications company, presented the report to the press yesterday and proudly announced that Verizon has invested over US$800 million in the Dominican Republic. The report, circulated at a private meeting of Verizon's chief executives, also pointed out that the company had spent over RD$130 million on education, sporting activities, arts and cultural activities, health, the environment and children's activities.
