Ignacio Ditren announced yesterday that OMSA (the Metropolitan Bus Service Office) is converting 80 of its vehicles to run on natural gas or bio-diesel fuels. These buses are supposed to enter into service this August. This will make OMSA the first to use natural gas or bio-diesel in a large-scale effort. He said that 80 of the old Mercedes-Benz buses will be refitted to use these new generation fuels. While Ditren seemed to confuse natural gas and bio-diesel, according to El Caribe, he did say that his organization was working with the National Energy Commission in the adaptation of the units that will use bio-diesel.
