Two days before the DR's proposed entry date into the DR-CAFTA agreement, the Dominican government said yesterday, through its Industry and Commerce Minister Francisco Javier Garcia Fernandez, that the treaty will come into effect once pending issues in the process of implementation have been harmonized between the United States in the DR. Also, a revision of the necessary documentation still needs to be completed. These statements, just hours before the announced date of implementation, are considered by Listin Diario to be tantamount to an admission that it won't take place on July 1st.
