If you missed out on the baseball round robin of the Dominican Winter League during the last week, you've missed out on some great baseball. The Leones del Escogido were looking strong during the last week of play, and barring a breakdown during the remaining games, this could be the year the Escogido finally take home a championship banner. But in a surprising twist, the Gigantes and Toros have also played strong ball and are vying to take over the second spot in the championship series. Unfortunately for fans of Licey, the holiday season hasn't been good to them. Bad play has almost doomed the early season favorites, pushing them to the last spot in the standings. Licey now have to try to dig themselves out of a 5-game losing streak. During last night's match-ups things continued to go south for Licey as they lost to the Toros 8-6. In the second game the Escogido easily took care of the Gigantes 4-3.
