It was a good holiday season, according to spokespersons for the country's leading shopping malls. Pedro Perez, president of the National Trade Organization (ONEC) says that overall sales were up 12-20% compared to the Christmas holidays in 2008. He said the recovery was reflected by an improvement of sales this Christmas. "We are beginning to feel a slight recovery and are hopeful that the first half of 2010 will be even better. But in general, this December was better than that of 2008".
