Leavy Yadira Nin Batista, who is described as the spouse of fugitive Puerto Rican drug baron Jose David Figueroa Agosto, is now said to have left the country, sources told Listin Diario. The newspaper reports that Nin was known as Figueroa's wife, but there is no record in the Central Electoral Board (JCE) to substantiate this.
The Listin source said that the government suspects that Nin is in France and efforts are under way to request her extradition. The newspaper says that among the detected 1,784 forged IDs investigated at the JCE is one where Nin Batista appears as the wife of Figueroa Agosto. As reported, Nin Batista used the ID 001-14043144-4 with Dominican nationality and that of 001-1777392-9 in the name of Fior Jansen Rodriguez.
Nin reportedly has registered assets but cannot account for the source of the income. These assets include apartments in Tower G31 on David Ben Gurion and Miguel A Beez Diaz streets in Piantini, Torre Nueva III on Orlando Martinez street in Naco, and another in Residencial Joan IV on Costa Rica street in Santo Domingo East. She is being investigated for serving as a cover for the laundering of drug money.
In the same case, Figueroa Agosto and his reported lover Sobeida Felix Morel are also fugitives in the case. Sobeida Felix Morel was initially sent to jail but was released on bail when she disappeared. Another woman with close ties to Figueroa Agosto, Mary Pelaez is appealing her 3 months preventive detention sentence in Najayo jail.
