Clave newspaper expects to see the Santo Domingo city teams, Escogido and Licey disputing the playoffs of Dominican winter baseball championship. The semi-final stage of the championship is half way over, with the Gigantes from San Francisco de Macoris in the lead. Sports Writers Association president Ramon Cuello says that Licey needs better teamwork, but has the talent to lead. He says that the Escogido is on a roll and is "hungry" to win. He commented that both the Gigantes and the Toros have reached their limits. Sports writer Hugo Lopez Morrobel agrees. He feels that both Licey and Escogido have the best Dominican players who will make the difference. He said that both the Licey and the Escogido are the favorites to make the playoffs.
