Ikea, the Swedish furniture and interior decoration store, says it has reached an agreement with neighbors and commits to installing high-tension electrical lines underground. Local residents have protested that the way the electricity lines were installed posed a risk to the community.
As reported in Diario Libre, Ikea general manager Maria Marante Martinez said that an agreement had been reached with the Euclides Morillo Street neighborhood association, with mediation by the Dominican Agro-business Board, which is located nearby. The local residents and Ikea agreed to request the corresponding permits to make the improvement.
