The Revolutionary Movement 14 June (1 J 4) celebrated its 50th anniversary yesterday with ceremonies in Santo Domingo and Mao, Valverde province. A mass was celebrated in the New World's first cathedral in Santo Domingo. Leandro Guzman, one of the founders of the group talked about how the 14 June provided an internal resistance to the Trujillo regime. He praised the valor and strength of those who perished, either murdered or tortured in the infamous jail "La 40". Guzman emphasized the democratic ideals held by the group, and their fight for justice, freedom and equality.
