State prosecutors suspect Juan Jose Fernandez Ibarra of being a front for fugitive Puerto Rican drug trafficker Jose Figueroa Agosto. Fernandez Ibarra, who is believed to be the owner of Figueroa Agosto's getaway vehicle, has been sent to Najayo jail for 3 months as investigations continue into the case. He is accused of asset laundering, involvement in organized crime and drug trafficking, according to assistant prosecutor Bienvenido Fabian Melo. His prison order, signed by Judge Alejandro Vargas, mentions Sammy Dauhajre as a middleman between Fernandez Ibarra and Figueroa in the purchase of 3 vehicles. Dauhajre is under investigation. Fernandez Ibarra said that in his case abuse is being committed, because the justice is "throwing rocks at the low-lying mangos" (concentrating on easy targets). As reported in El Nacional, he said his conscience is clear because all he did was sell some vehicles to the fugitive. His lawyer Cesar Matos defended him by saying that Fernandez Ibarra is a known vehicle dealer.
