President Leonel Fernandez's narcotics adviser, lawyer Marino Vinicio Castillo (Vincho) is asking the authorities to look further into the case against suspended Major Bienvenido Antonio Savinon Aybar.
The license plate on the vehicle from which the shots that killed former Police colonel Jose Amado Gonzalez Gonzalez were fired was assigned to the suspended army major. As reported in El Caribe, speaking on his TV program La Respuesta yesterday, Castillo said that prosecutors needed to investigate a "very important officer at the National Investigations Department (DNI), who is very close to President Leonel Fernandez, and to whom Major Savinon Aybar was supposedly assigned".
The vehicle had an official Army license plate, despite the fact that Savinon was no longer officially a member of the army.
He also urged the authorities to investigate the murder of Vienesa Cesarina Capellan Perez (alias Bianca la Gorda) several months ago. He said that some aspects of her murder were similar that of former colonel Gonzalez Gonzalez.
Gonzalez Gonzalez was murdered on 24 December. He had been forcibly retired along in October 2008. He was known to be a close aide to fugitive Puerto Rican drug trafficker Jose David Figueroa Agosto.
