Nightclubs can't store clients' guns

The Ministry of Interior and Police announces that it will shut down nightclubs that keep their clients' weapons. Milka Terrero, deputy minister of Interior and Police said that Article 61 of Law 36 on Possession of Weapons establishes that nightclubs are not authorized to store their clients' weapons. She said that guns are involved in 65% of murders, as reported in Hoy. She said that ministry officials, the prosecutor general's office and the army would carry out random inspections to check for weapons. Any club that is found storing customers' guns will be shut down. The measure is aimed at reducing the number of crimes with firearms.
