President Leonel Fernandez's legal advisor on narcotics, lawyer Marino Vinicio Castillo (Vincho) is insisting that Puerto Rican fugitive drug trafficker Jose David Figueroa Agosto is still in the Dominican Republic. Castillo said that if he were in charge of the investigations into Figueroa Agosto's disappearance, he would interview former National Drug Control Department head Manuel Antonio Lachapelle Suero and Rafael Radhames Ramirez Ferreiras so they can explain the reasons why the US Embassy revoked its extradition request against Figueroa Agosto, as reported in El Dia. The drug trafficker was about to be extradited to the US when an order revoking the extradition request came from the US authorities.
Castillo says that these two can provide clarifying details because requests for extradition by Jose David Figueroa Agosto were made and subsequently revoked by the US authorities during both their administrations. He said that that they could explain how Figueroa was able to live here for 10 years.
