The Tax Department announces that wages up to RD$29,110 or RD$349,326 a year are exempt from paying taxes. People making from RD$349,326.01 to RD$523,988 will pay 15% on the difference over RD$349,326.01. Anyone making RD$523,988.01 to RD$727,761.00 will pay RD$26,199 plus 20% of the difference over RD$523,988.01. People making RD$727,761.01 and more will pay RD$66.954 plus 25% of the surplus over RD$727,761.01. The new levels take into consideration an inflation rate of 1.0576%.
The Department of Taxes also authorized that RD$36.12 to the US$1 and RD$50.47 to the EUR1 be used for making exchange calculations in closing the fiscal year that ended on 31 December 2009.
