Police Chief Bernardo Santana Paez has told Dominican reporters that the murder-robbery of Belgian Veronique Dubuisson last May has been solved. The chief said that Rufy Alexander Mercedes was the head of the group that committed the crime. According to the report, Mercedes was well known in the house because his father worked for Ms. Dubuisson. The police chief told reporters that Rufy admitted to the crime in his presence. The gang stole a cell phone, a large sum of money, some easy-to-sell electrical appliances and a Kia SUV. The crime was solved by tracking the stolen cell phone. The Belgian government had taken an interest in the case, and put pressure on the police to solve it as soon as possible.
