[DR1] Mejia admits he cannot run in 2008

Former President Hipolito Mejia admitted yesterday that the law does not allow him to run for President in 2008. He said that his followers within the PRD are supporting different pre-candidates because he has freed them up to make their own decisions, as reported by Diario Libre. However, Mejia pointed out that the majority of his close associates are supporting Miguel Vargas, who also has the highest level of support within the party. He stated that he would eventually come out in public support of one of the candidates.
