Winston Risik Rodriguez, described as a businessman in El Dia newspaper, was driving his car along Santo Domingo's Winston Churchill Avenue at 6am when the Lexus SUV was hit by four gunshots on the driver's side. The side window was destroyed. El Dia says that regardless, Risik Rodriguez was practically uninjured. Risik has been requested for extradition by the United States for his ties to fugitive Ramon del Rosario Puente (Tono Lena), who is also linked to fugitive Jose David Figueroa Agosto. The Supreme Court of Justice rejected the application. His SUV had been confiscated but later returned to him by the National Drug Control Department (DNCD).
Diario Libre reports that Risik was sentenced to 96 months in jail in Florida and escaped to the DR on 13 February 1995.
