The regular season champs, the Gigantes defeated the Escogido on Monday, 2-0, but the Escogido have been a tremendous opponent and are maintaining the quest to be the 2009-2010 champs of the Dominican winter professional baseball championship. The series is now 4-3. The Gigantes have won 4 of 7 games. For the Gigantes, it would be their first pennant. The Escogido have not won a championship in 18 years. Today the teams take a break. If the Gigantes win in Santo Domingo tomorrow, they win the series. If the Escogido wins, the series goes for one more game.
