Hoy columnist Rafael Molina Morillo, one of the most respected editorialists in the Dominican Republic, dedicated his column in today's Hoy to the subject of a quick diagnosis of cerebral hemorrhages. In the interest of an even wider audience, DR1 takes this moment to repeat the three simple tests for anyone who might be even vaguely suspected of having experienced such a serious incident.

1) Ask the person to smile

2) Ask the person to raise both arms.

3) Ask the person to repeat a simple sentence such as "Today is a nice day."

If the person has difficulty in fulfilling any of these three things, call a doctor immediately and report the symptoms. Cerebral hemorrhages can usually be successfully remedied if treated within three hours of the event. Pass it on.
