Dominican President Leonel Fernandez returns home tonight loaded with a series of promises. His 14-day trip to California and the Far East concluded in Tokyo. He returns today after a stopover in New York City. Reports in today's papers say that Taiwanese businessmen are interested in investing in the DR and Diario Libre says that Google has promised to assist Fernandez with some of his IT projects. A possible free trade agreement with Taiwan is in the offing, and Korean business leaders promised investments in the areas of electricity and technology. Just yesterday, Vice-President Rafael Alburquerque received over 300 Taiwanese businessmen in his office at the National Palace. These members of the Taiwanese Chamber of Commerce are looking for investment opportunities and come from thirty different countries, according to Taiwanese ambassador John Feng.
