A decade ago, apparel exports to the US made up 60% of Dominican exports. But today, these exports have dropped to a third of that level. Last year alone, textile exports declined 27.6% and reached US$466.5 million, or 18% of the total Dominican exports to the US, as reported in El Caribe, basing its figures on a report on trade between the US and the DR prepared by Ministry of Hacienda economist Gina Guzman. Overall, Latin American exports to the US declined 25%.
