I think the bar in it is called the Jokers club, it's right next to Passions. I went in to check the rooms, they were nice, never talked about the price though.
I found it kind of quiet in the place, a couple of mongers and myself dragged Niaomi and two other palace girls over there fo a couple of drinks did not see girls then, I heard they would show later.

The owner seemed like a good guy.

This place was great a lil over a year ago... It was competing with Palace... I stayed there with 3 other friends and we took the whole house for $140 a night- $35 each... Steve owns the hotel part right now and i think John runs the permanent resident side... The bar was good when Mav owned it but i heard most of the time noone runs it due to lack of business... The girls... hmmm... I heard they arent around really anymore because people and the bar isnt happening like it was... you may find a hatian or two roaming around there... I think the whole house is now designed differently... there is no more pool table room inside the house... Dont know what the rooms go for now...

Buddy of mine from Belgium just came back after staying there. Steve is now running it with a guy called Michael (who I vaguely seem to remember meeting once, some casino expert/consultant I think). They're trying to get the place running again. They hired some Crystals chicas to hang out there.......

We ran into a few of the Crystals chicas leaving one night. You could tell they were from there. They had the makeup caked on. You would think they would take it off for a road trip.

I wish they painted that place white...I hate the blue...but...they have a ex-crystals chic that is there almost every day. She's pretty smart and knows how to work the guy..you'll say no and she'll say come on baby, let me dance for you, etc....she will work you.

Michael and Steve are co-owners and the rooms go for about $40/night. Might be $35/night...

They also have Jarabacoa girls that live on site and help out at the bar that may be for take out depending on what can offer, etc. There are about 3 of them and all share one tiny space there.

It's worth checking out every once in a while along with the other places in town.

BTW, Steve and another guy took over the El Botin restaurant...will be turning it into a lounge area once the restaurant part of it closes at night for some all night action...ya never know.

My BD knowledge is both scanty and old, but... I have stopped in there from time to time over the last two years during various trips. First time two or more years ago they had just opened, I stopped in, and a real big guy named John, one of the owners I believe, took me inside to the sala, and called over chica after chica for me to look at, I lost count I am not kidding there must have been 12 or 15, coming in twos and threes, all in bathing suits, my own private bikini contest. I was floored, every chica was pretty, all varieties. He would say what kind do you like, I would name a type, he would say oh yeah that would be so and so, he would tell the girls to tell so and so to come in, 30 seconds later there is what I asked for, he would say what other types, I would name one, same thing would happen. Like I said I was floored, I had been to BB but this was amazing. I asked for a room for the rest of the week, they said they didn't have any more AC rooms. They were still under construction as far as rooms. I was at the Europa with nice cold air I wasn't going to give it up. John said no problem stay at the Europa, hang here. I entended to do exactly that. Prices were the same as BB.

That was in the afternoon. Downhill from there, at night there were few chicas. Stopped in every night, some afternoons, not too many. On future trips the place was empty at nights, just stuck my head in the door and looked, didn't bother going in. No guests or chicas at the bar, or maybe one or two. Last August the place was totally empty, dark, no music, I thought it was closed.

I would love to know if the place has come back to life. Hope it does.

Back around that time, BB was somewhat light on the chica population also, and between that and what happened with BD I ended up becoming a fan of the freelance and disco scene. I don't hang at BB lately except for a few quick visits to see what bikini contest weekend is like. I don't know what BB is like during non-contest times but when I saw it last the chica scene was totally changed from when I made my visits a few years ago. As a buddy of mine says: lotsa-lotsa. Lotsa guests, lotsa chicas. Is it always like that now? Everyone is talking that they couldn't get a room, sold out. Anyway sounds like they did something right, it started out slow like when I made my early visits, but now it's great, from the sound of the reports and my two brief peeks last August. Yes I made some nasty posts on WSA about BB some time ago, but that was then, this is now, those complaints are obsolete information now and no help to anyone. So the point is can BD come to life in the same way? It would be great. BB proves it can happen.

I could never figure out why BD didn't take off, look at where it is. It's a BB in the middle of Sosua. Just can't figure it. But of course there's a lot more to it than meets the eye.

Rule number one, edit post first.

By 'downhill from there', I meant that 'it went' downhill from there.

Don't feel bad, I got hit with the no running water thing also. Some of these places need the water pump in order to keep pressure. I was there in August, you in September, the power grid was down. No power, no problem, they run the generator, yes? But noooo. When we go to the desk and say que pasa, they say we told you we have a generator and we do, we did not say that we have diesel fuel for it.

Even when I learned to ask if they actually RAN the generator before accepting a room at a place, it didn't matter. When there was no power, they would say the truck is on it's way. Then the truck will be here tomorrow. Then the truck driver was abducted by an alien spacecraft.

It was like living in the stone age. You never know what you take for granted. I was in Boca last week and let out a mild 'wow' when I saw the street lights on.

The real lesson I gleaned from all that was that the locals will tell you whatever they think you want to hear in order to keep you involved with them in whatever way necessary to get your dinero. No suprise there, and don't get me wrong I like dominicans, but it makes it a little tough to get good information sometimes. I asked a tour guide about some clubs in SD. He says he has a driver that knows those clubs I am talking about, he will take me tonight or anytime. I would have set my money on the table but I am thinking, is any of this true? I passed because I didn't believe him, and who knows maybe he wasn't lying. I think that the 'tell them what they want to hear' habit works against them in the long run. Skeptics are slow to open wallets.

Actually the edit post rule is perhaps really number three.

Because rule number two is 'get her in better light first'.

I am building a $30,000 house and I will have $45,000 available to build it. These guys buy $500,000 hotels with 10 cents left over for repairs.

Based on what you said I will surely make regualar checks of BD next time I am in Sosua. My fast weekend trips will be to Boca and SD because it is cheap for me to fly there (you NYC and NJ guys have it good, cheap flights to POP, better than we get here in FL). But if I take a week or two it will be to the north coast. Might even try a stay at BB again, hit PP at night, that sorta thing.

I have no facts to go on, but I figured the situation at BD may be a combination of money running out and lack of the right local connections. Pure speculation on my part. But anyway that first visit there that one afternoon was really incredible. Never experienced anything like it, John sat me down in a comfy overstuffed chair, handed me a presidente and started the parade. I felt like an medieval arab sultan. And they were all beautiful, every one. Tall, short, thin, chubby, big boobs, small boobs, light, dark, you name it. I was sitting there and thinking, no kidding, of all things---"I am moving to Sosua when I retire".

I should put that last line into perspective. Around that time I was reading books like "best places to retire". Some of the places mentioned are Bend, Oregon. Or Hendersonville, Nevada. That moment in the overstuffed chair was like a lightening bolt. I almost busted out laughing at myself.

First off, it takes money to finish a hotel, then connections to keep it open. Both are facts.

I have only been in the hobby two and a half years, but it seems almost as if we make the best spots for ourselves, partly at least. That is to say that if we are showing in numbers, the chicas show, then more of us show, etc. And it works the other way also. I wonder if we can jump start the place?

First off we need a friendly place, then we need a place that works. After that, its all green lights. I am working on getting a 50 room hotel in the family.

I am looking to do another trip soon maybe late April or June. JDR we have shared posts over at UG and I remember the old Yahoo group back a few years... this is a nice upgrade.

I thought you had a place at one stage... small house with a few master suites outside of town... or am I mixing it with another poster of old.

I have been busy in the adult industry for a few years and just changed over to marketing in financials... would be interested in getting together in NYC and discussing investing in DR... also some advise on the trip.
