The police promptly solved the kidnapping of a 12-year old girl, daughter of a member of the Chamber of Deputies, who had been taken by one of the family's former bodyguards. Felix Norberto Guerrero Robles had been discharged from the armed forces three weeks before the kidnapping took place. The young girl was rescued safe and sound five hours after she had been taken off the street near her house. The police's anti-kidnapping and anti-terror units as well as the Crime Prevention unit worked on the case. Two men are in custody in relation to the kidnapping and the police are looking for several others.
In another headline case, the police have arrested five men in connection with the multi-million robbery and murder in Cotui last week. Police Chief Bernardo Santana Paez told reporters that five men were under arrest for the robbery of the Cotui Savings and Loan Association that cost the life of security guard Juan Acosta. Four of the alleged robbers were from Santo Domingo. The police seized two pistols, a Suzuki SUV, a Toyota Tacoma pick-up truck and a sum of money. The gang is suspected of committing another robbery on 2 March on Abraham Lincoln Avenue in Santo Domingo. One of the accused, Antigua Santos, was identified by Yaniris Torres Serrata as one of the men who attacked her in her home in Arroyo Hondo.
