There are change houses all over the place plus banks and supermarkets will do it for you as well.

Start with $100 and keep all your money in your hotel safe.

* Super Super (along the main strip)

* Banco Santa Cruz (always gave me the highest rate -across from super super)

* Judy's Exchange (they use Banco Santa Cruz and give you a tiny bit less - down the road from Super Super and Banco Santa Cruz)

*This guy named Santiago (works by Voodoo Lounge on the entrance to go onto the road to the beach - tell him you heard about him from the NYC guy on the internet)

Just a warning. I use the automate tellers very frequently when I
was down there and I realised that this was not the smartes way to
go as my card could have gotten eaten and I would have been fucked.
Carry travellers cheques maybe $500 or so call it emergency money
just in case something happens. Leave the Travellers Cheques in your
safe. Use your bank card for cash that way when you can go home you
can deposit the $500 back to your account and all it cost you was
the bank transaction fee. Now if the transaction fee for this
bothers you then stay home.

Some of you may also be able to cash personal or business checks at Judy's Exchange Bank if you are vouched for or are well known down there.
