Work on the first part of the Santo Domingo Metro 2a line is coming to an end. During the next month a "tunneling machine" is due to arrive to excavate the passageway from Los Alcarrizos to the intersection between Maximo Gomez and JFK avenues. The second phase will run from Maximo Gomez Avenue to San Luis.
Leonel Carrasco, assistant director of the Transport Reorganization Office (OPRET), said that the total project cost would be US$700 million. Carrasco also identified the 14 stations that will operate along this route.
