67 works by Colombian artist Fernando Botero will be on display at the Palace of Fine Arts (Palacio de Bellas Artes) starting Thursday, 4 February. The traveling exhibition has already been seen in Ecuador, Peru, Argentina, Panama, Mexico, Brazil and Spain. It will be in Santo Domingo until April. The exhibition focuses predominantly on the violence in Colombia. Botero says he donated these works to the National Museum of Colombia so that the citizens and peoples of the world could be witness to the cruelty of a people affected by guerrillas and drug trafficking. Botero resides in Italy. For more on ongoing and upcoming events, see http://www.dr1.com/calendar
