The Department of Taxes (DGII) says that tax collections for January 2010 were 13% higher than the same period last year. Tax collections totaled RD$15.63 billion. The collections were 96.4% of what the DGII had estimated to collect for the month, with a RD$592 million difference, as reported by the DGII. The DGII collects 75% of all taxes levied by the government, as reported in Hoy.
