According to reports from several parts of the country, interruptions in electricity service have intensified considerably during the past few days and in some places the power cuts are now lasting 20 hours of the day. According to El Nuevo Diario, the province of Santo Domingo, Santo Domingo East, Boca Chica, Los Alcarrizos, Pedro Brand and the nearby areas have all been hard hit. The newspaper said it had received complaints from all over the province of Santo Domingo, as well as from Santiago de los Caballeros, Salcedo and Tenares in the Cibao region.
