Sorry if this is out of date, but I have been reading too many posts about LE hassing locking up girls for a big LE show. I also hear the girls are afraid to walk alone at night. This makes me question coming to DR. What geniuses these guys are. Anyone got any info?
My sense, knowing nothing on the ground there...you can't kill a good thing. But I'd like to know how discreet I might need to be when I come there next month. Any advice is appreciated as always.
Well the facts are simple. The guys on this site have their numbers. There are many of us in Sosua weekly. The chicas always need money and have friends. We all will always get action.
I was in Sosua last weekend and there was no crackdown from what I seen, still plenty of putas around needing dinero$$$$.

true ...they laid off a lot...it might have to do with the fact that they moved the Cobra ( police chief ) out of Sosua again...that`ll do...things are going smooth again...and it`s hot and sunny in the daytime...so let`s go party !!!!!!

Cobra is some police chief known to crack down on the dirty shit in DR: thieves, hoes, drugs, etc. Good to know on a personal level, but you are right...there is always something happening behind the scenes. Not knowing any better, I'd say we are the ultimate puppet masters behind the scenes...maybe the week monger/tourist traffic in the area was greatly noticed by the small business owners down there and everyone just started complaining...so that they can ease up on things? Oh well...i think the best times are still to come especially with the anticipated dollar strengthening by summers end.

Sorry to say, but it's still going on. The police are out arresting the girls, often early in the evening 8 and 9 pm. There is much less girls than it used to be, but it can vary very much from night to night. In Classico theese days it's usually 3 males for every female. ( Didn't stop me to get a happy hour last weekend ).

The chicas have been plentiful every time I've gone into the Classico this trip. I haven't noticed the ratio too much. I tend to get what I want...which can be unfortunate sometimes.

Guys I have seen LE trying to hassle the girls but I have not really seen that affect anything. I overheard that the girls have to pay something to them (LE) every month or somthing like that.

When I got there (late, about 2:45), it looked like a hundred dudes coming down the stairs escorting all the chicas out. FUCK! Yeah, I notice they always find a stunner(bonita chica) they stay with her there whole entire trip and us North Americans get stuck with the left overs in Sosua and PuertoPlata, I think Im going to have to go Santiago almost every chica is a stunner there.

Sounds like what started to happen in Brazil awhile back. Sosua isn't that big to begin with, and the DR is much smaller than Brazil. The greater the numbers, particularly guys with money, that come into Sosua the more competition it will present for mongers. I hate to sound like a pessimist, but I've said several times that the potential is there for things to get really tight chica wise. With the advent of the internet, this may be impossible to avoid. I hope I'm wrong.

The problem has been the police actions, it has slowed down, but still continues. Many girls are scared away. If the police are not limiting the numbers of girls, there will always be enough for everyone no matter how many tourist comming to town.

I smell a good bet here. I've got my funds tied up now :( I go to this site before checking on my $$. That's probably not a good thing. Still paying for DR off last year Day-trading profits :D

It does seem to have lightened up a bit. Although chicas are not that comfortable walking the streets unescorted at night. Bars and clubs are packed.

Hmm. What is with that whole "unescorted" thing? I had one chica insist that we hold hands the whole time we were out in the street, another one didn't seem to care. Can the chicas really be busted just for walking down a street alone, i.e., not soliciting, just walkin? Damn, dollar sucks and less girls but I'm still coming down. This might be the last journey if this trend continues.

I agree those days are long behind me.... I had a tendency of getting into minor scrapes when drunk with the cops but slowly realize that I could not win and smartened up... but as the brash Aussie I thought screw you and always had a smart comment!!!
