The Central Electoral Board (JCE) is still RD$877 million short, part of the RD$1.364 billion additional budget required for the logistics and organization of the congressional and municipal elections next 16 May. JCE president Julio Cesar Castanos Guzman told reporters from El Nuevo Diario that the board had received RD$487 million but they were expecting more. Besides the money issues, Castanos Guzman touched on several other important points that are currently being discussed in political circles
He denied that the personnel of the Municipal Election Board in Moca had been changed, as was claimed by the PRD. He did say that they might have changed the secretary of the board. The PRD said that after performing their duties for 5 consecutive elections in Moca without any challenges, it became suspicious when the JCE suddenly started changing personnel just because the PLD has requested it.
