More than 190 Dominicans are vying for the Major League Baseball rosters for the 2010-11 season. Spring training officially kicks off with a game between the New York Yankees and the Boston Red Sox set for 4 April. Of the group, 148 are players who are already on the final rosters of 25 players each of the 30 teams in the Major Leagues, and another 43 who have been invited to try to make a team roster by attending the Florida and Arizona camps. When the next MLB season opens, Dominicans will make up the largest foreign player group to play in the championship. Listin Diario reports that the San Francisco Giants has the largest number of Dominicans, with 11 players; the Marlins, Kansas City, Yankees and Rangers have 9 Dominicans, while the Diamondbacks, Cubs, Dodgers, Reds, Orioles and Red Sox have 8 Dominicans each.
