The general administrator of the Banco Agricola, engineer Paino Abreu Collado is asking why not a single person is under arrest 2 months after a RD$2.3 million robbery from the Banco Agricola's Bonao branch, "when it is clear there was complicity". He expressed his concern at the fact that Elizabeth Rafelina Acosta Diaz, who was a cashier at the office in the Banco Agricola in Guananico, Puerto Plata and who had been arrested on suspicion of using more than RD$10 million of depositors' money, was allowed to travel abroad.
He said that Acosta Diaz had been favored by a replacement judge at the first instruction court in Puerto Plata, Adriana Vasquez Jimenez, who changed the preventive arrest order to one that granted her RD$300,000 bail and a ban on leaving the country. Abreu Collado said that despite the restrictions, Acosta Diaz left the country via the Cibao Airport and traveled to the United States.
Paino also complained about the way that the instruction judge had complied with a petition from Santo Isidro assistant prosecutor Fabian Beltre who changed Domingo Cabrera Reyes' preventive custody request to RD$5,000 bail. Cabrera Reyes is the only person who has been arrested in the case. The robbery took place on 28 December. Abreu Collado accused the state prosecution department of being lax in obtaining evidence that would have prevented impunity in the case.
