7dias.com.do says that President Leonel Fernandez has held closed-door meetings with government officials to hear the opinions of cabinet members and civilian and military figures in order to assess the potential consequences of scandals involving government officials.
Insurance Superintendent and PLD political committee member Euclides Gutierrez is said to have criticized the behavior of some government ministers who frequented the luxury apartments belonging to fugitive drug trafficker Figueroa Agosto and his lover Sobeida Felix Morel, who is also on the run.

It reports that an important meeting between the President and several high-ranking military officers had taken place on Monday. "Several spoke freely about their colleagues, but reaffirmed their loyalty to the President," reports the online news service.
A source said that US Embassy officials, following the recommendations of experts, have suggested that officers who hold the rank of colonel or lower should lead the intelligence services in the DR. President Leonel Fernandez is aware of these recommendations.

According to the report, the President is trying to leave matters settled before the trip. It is reported that several government officials were filmed when visiting Figueroa and Sobeida Felix and are believed to have provided him with protection through documents that included license plates and National Department of Investigation ID cards.
There are rumors of imminent changes at the level of Armed Forces Minister, chief of the Navy, Police, National Drug Control department and the Metropolitan Transport Authority.
