I guess the last guest left. I haven't dropped by since Sunday, and there was only one guest there then.

What does the yahoo group site say. Have all reservations been null and voided?

Maybe that's just Fantasy getting back at John.

Oh, Fantasy is his web master. I have not seen him for over a year and a half in Sosua. The Yahoo group is now closed also. Looks like reservations will be made directly through Palace John. There were some problems over the July 4th invasion about room bookings and so on. No need to go into detail but i think the person doing the online yahoo bookings for John no longer has anything to do with the Palace. Meaning do not bug JDR about room availability at the Palace anymore.

Then I can stay there for free and actually get fresh towels daily (as many as I want), fresh linens, free internet access, a clean pool, a non-broken jacuzzi, air conditioning that works, and maybe a paved road to walk on. And it better be chica friendly! I wonder if he is selling it outright or staying on to manage. I get the impression he wants to move back to Miami.

The Palace is still open to preferred guests and preferred referrals. John can be reached at his email address thepalacesosua1@hotmail.com
From what I understand John has raised the room rates to keep out undesirables.

When i went to see the place for the first time last july to me the whole place was undesirable!!! so who are the bone heads paying the up'd price for a dump.

I stayed there last year in March and it didn't seem to be in any worse condition than previous years. The rooms were clean, plenty of hot water, I was paying $55.00 for a two room apartment. Marolyn was hanging out there

and this girl. I don't remember her name but she was very nice.

I was planning to stay there this year but with the increase in rates and all the praise for the Garden I changed my plans.

His old rates werent that bad for a 2 bedroom. $55 split between 2 people was definitely reasonable.

Yeah, but the official 1 bedroom rates were like $45??

Yeah IIRC it was:
$40-studio
$45-1 bedroom
$55-2 bedroom
$100-penthouse

I always got the penthouse for $55 - $66 dollars a night from John. Sad to see the place fade into the background. Some very fond memories.

There were always two prices, the room price or the entire floor price.

I always paid 100 per night for the penthouse and he knew the only reason I wanted it was for the jacuzzi. My 3rd trip it didnt work and he never got it fixed so I took the 2 bedroom with a buddy for 55/night after that.

I would have gladly stayed in the penthouse every trip but without the jacuzzi it wasnt worth it to me.

Too bad the New Garden doesnt have a big jacuzzi. He should put one in by the pool.Just raise the room rates a hair and hell make money on it within a year.

He can't keep a reservation. I just booked for April, but if I get told there is no room for me, I'll hit the roof....
