There is speculation in the media that the PLD pre-candidate for mayor in Santiago, Gilberto Serulle could switch to the PRD, and that the opposition party would be willing to offer him the candidacy for mayor in Santiago.
The decision would come on the heels of announcement by the PLD political committee that they are choosing to support Santiago mayor Jose Enrique Sued of the PRSC, who is seeking re-election.
Orlando Gil, writing in Listin Diario, speculates that it was only logical that there would be talks between Serulle and PRD president Miguel Vargas about the possible candidacy of Serulle in an alliance with the PRD.
