Cerveceria Nacional Dominicana, brewers of Presidente beer, has announced it has concluded purchase agreements for breweries in the Caribbean islands of Antigua, Dominica and St. Vincent. It will now operate the St. Vincent Brewery Ltd, Antigua Brewery Ltd, Antigua Pet Plant Ltd and Dominicana Brewery & Beverages Ltd., each leaders in their markets. The companies produce beer, malt, soft drinks and water.
"Our plan is to strengthen the leadership of those companies, their local brands and grow those businesses," said Franklin Leon, CND vice president of export.
The RD$1.12 billion agreement was signed with Danish company Royal Unibrew.
Franklin Leon told Listin Diario: "This is in line with the country's strategic objectives, and will enable us to immediately double our export revenues, export our own brands to the Caribbean, and extend the portfolio of our local brands, including beer, malt, water and soft drinks," he said.
The brands include Hairoun beer in St Vincent, Kubuli beer in Dominica, Wadadli beer in Antigua, Guinness Stout, Loubiere Spring Water, Vitamalt and Fruit Cocktail.
Leon said the company seeks to position itself in the region in the premium segment as the "true taste of the Caribbean." In the DR, CND has 87% market share.
